OK, it’s time to talk about the digital elephant in the bedroom—screens at bedtime. Before you roll your eyes and hit delete, know that I am not going to tell you to stop using your phone before bed.
We have all heard the same prevailing sleep-and-screen advice repeatedly: If you want to sleep well, you have to ditch screens an hour or two before bed. We’ve probably even heard why: Our devices emit blue light that messes with our body clock and the actual content we’re staring at tends to keep our brain alert and over-stimulated.
But just because we know it, doesn’t mean we’ll actually do it. (Hi, it’s me ✋🏻). So let’s talk about some realistic adjustments we can make to mitigate the impact screens have on our slumber.
